Electrocardiogram (12 Lead EKG)

A diagnostic test that records the electrical activity of your heart through small electrodes attach to the skin of your chest, arms, and legs.  This is commonly used to check the heart rhythm, to see if there are poor blood flow to the heart muscle, or diagnose a heart attack.

During the test you will lie flat while a computer creates and prints a picture of the electrical impulses that move through your heart. This is called a "resting" EKG.

This procedure is non invasive and generally takes 10 to 15 minutes.  The print out will be interpreted and kept on file for future comparison.
