Cupping

There has been a sudden spike of interest in Chinese cupping after the 2016 Olympics.  It was first noticed there were many red circular marks on Michael Phelps’ back, then many members of the US swim team were displacing red circular marks on their backs also.  This has gotten a lot of attention in the media and raised people’s curiosity about this ancient technique.

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method used to relieve muscle tension, promote blood & lymph circulation, detoxification & healing.  A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction.

Cupping is known to move Qi in the body and is most often used with acupuncture.
