Wai Acupuncture Therapy Dog “Cookie”

WAI Acupuncture Therapy Dog

Many Wai Acupunture clients are dog lovers.  From the holistic stand point, a therapy dog adds great value to our acupuncture practice.

We all love our pets. They bring us joy and comfort whenever they greet us, but did you also know that man’s best friend has super-powers?  Scientific research provides evidence that a dog’s sense of smell can be 10,000 times more sensitive compared to humans.

Not only are dogs very impressive with their nose, but they also are able to sense our emotions.  A dog would be able understand someone in distress by nuzzling or whining, and jump excitedly when they see us filled with joy.  Because dogs are so well equipped with their senses, they are also great helpers to aid with our wellbeing. Therapy dogs have long assisted those who are in nursing homes and children’s hospitals and provide relief from stress with emotional support.

Dogs are also great at keeping us company, and interactions with them has repeatedly shown improvement in patients’ mood.  Other benefits that come with a therapy dog include decreased cortisol levels and lower blood pressure.  Dogs are truly the best when they come to show us their support and unconditional love.

With all the benefits that dogs can bring to holistic healing, WAI Acupuncture is excited to announce our new therapy dog named Cookie!  She will be accompanying the Wai Acupuncture Team at our Longwood location and we can’t wait for you to meet her!
