Art of Chewing

Eating begins with the simple art of chewing.  Chewing well is to help digestion by mechanically breaking down food particles so that the surface area of food is exponentially increased to let the digestive enzymes are working efficiently.

Carbohydrates digestion begins in the mouth.  Thorough chewing turns grains and other complex carbohydrates into satisfying sugars for maximum absorption.  Grains must be mixed with saliva until liquid to release their full nutritional value.  Without adequate chewing, we will feel heavy and dull, develop gas and be undernourished.  Sweets and processed foods satisfy the immediate desire for tastes, but soon dull the taste buds.  The more the organic whole greens foods are chewed, the sweeter they become.  Because digestion becomes so efficient, the body begins to feel wonderfully delight.  To get started in the correct habit of chewing, try counting the chewing of each bite 30 – 40 times.  Try to avoid “lunch-meeting”; put away electronic device. Set aside your designed time slot to enjoy the meal.  Place the meal in a clean environment, surrounded with pleasant sounds, aromas and colors. Avoid eating while over tired, worried, angry, or watching TV.  Relax and get comfortable.  Eating is a time to receive offerings in the form of food to nurture and revitalize your body.  Let the chewing relax you, enjoy the whole spectrum of tastes and aromas that make up the meal. Give attention to the unique qualities of each food.  Never overeat.  A helpful rule is, stop eating when two-thirds full.
